Finishes for Rigid Boxes
When we talk about types of finishes for rigid boxes, we refer to the effects that can be applied to printed or unprinted cardboard or paper:
UV Varnish Spot
It consists of applying varnish on specific areas of the format we are screen printing, such as shapes, letters, silhouettes, etc., to make them stand out.
Stamping
It is a marking or dry printing technique using thermal transfer. It is done using a matrix that presses a thin film and transfers the design through heat onto various materials like cardboard, fabric, plastic, and wood.
Blind Embossing
It involves printing letters or images through pressure with a die and counter die, without ink or varnish, leaving a raised mark on the surface.
Paper Lamination
Lamination mainly enhances and protects the finish of printed documents and can be chosen in matte or glossy, according to the need.2
Window Lamination
Lamination with a window is used for paper materials that contain cutouts inside. It is usually used in packaging where it is essential to see the product inside.
Mounting
It is the technique of gluing two materials together using adhesive. It is a system commonly used to mount corrugated cardboard with printed cardboard.
Printing finishes Types
- Offset: It is a method of reproducing documents and images on paper or similar materials by applying ink, usually oily, on a metal plate usually made of an aluminum alloy. It allows for a wide range of colors using four inks.
- Digital: Digital printing is the evolution of offset printing. It is characterized by directly printing from a computer to the machine, avoiding the intermediate costs involved in offset printing (films or plates, ink preparation, machine setup, etc.).
- Screen Printing: It is a printing technique used to reproduce documents and images on various materials by transferring ink through a stretched mesh on a frame. The ink passes through areas where there will be an image, while it is blocked in other areas using an emulsion or varnish.
- Flexography: It is a direct rotary printing system that uses flexible plates with high relief to transfer the image directly from the plate to any type of substrate.
